1 x FN 509 Compensator
1 x Shim Kit:
Optional “Muschi” Mounting Block
NOT Compatible with:
The PMM Compensator uses a proprietary mounting system much like what is found on all modern rifles utilizing a combination of shims and proper timing of the compensator in relation to the Pistol slide.
Additionally, the PMM compensators utilize a single port design at the 12 O’clock position which maximizes the effectiveness of the compensator in keeping the muzzle of the pistol down and allows the slide to “track” faster and more accurately for follow up shots.
During testing the PMM compensators were designed to work with most factory loaded ammunition but will yield the best results with a +P or Nato spec cartridge. We have adapted our designs to integrate with and complement the design of your pistol so no longer does a compensator have to look like an afterthought slapped on the end of your pistol, Rather it Delivers unmatched performance and looks.

The compensator I purchased for my 509T came in the mail incredibly quick. The packaged compensator looked great, well made and well machined.
While installing the compensator I used a towel to get a better grip on the compensator to get it as tight as possible on the barrel. After tightening it (by hand with a towel) I looked it over and the finish came off in a few areas.
Being that this was $110, I had just got it that day, it hadn’t been shot or dropped and was hand tightened I was confused why the finish would come off so easily.
I reached out to the guys at PMM via Instagram and sent a few photos and explained what happened. I asked them if there was anything they could do to repair the finish. Their response was “what would the Porsche dealer do if you literally just bought a car from them and open the door into a curb and scratched it.”
Long story short I asked them if they could help repair the terrible finish on the compensator and they told me to read a book called Extreme ownership – which I own and have read.
Extreme ownership begins with the inception of an idea. Extreme ownership is ensuring you’re putting out the best quality product and taking responsibility for a sub par product that snuck through QC. Needless to say I’m incredibly disappointed not only with the compensator itself, but also with the “customer service@ I received. I’ve heard nothing but great things about PMM so I was shocked when I had such a terrible experience.
I’m hopeful that if you’re looking to purchase a comp that the quality of it is better than mine. If you happen to get a sub par comp like I did, you’re going to be SOL as seen by the response I received.
I wouldn’t recommend PMM and won’t be buying from them again. Had I been treated with respect I’d be a life long customer and would be sharing a totally different review.

After watching the PMM installation video, I elected to have my local gunsmith do the installation. The installation doesn’t seem to be overly complex, but I had other upgrades (Apex Trigger) that I simply grouped them together. I had ~300 hundred rounds (115gr, 135gr, and 147gr) through the gun with no issues and decided to go with this comp. After the install, I noticed several things; I did not experience any failures with the stiffer (black) spring installed. In fact, I haven’t installed the yellow spring at all. Two, like most, I did notice a difference with target acquisition. Simply the gun is easier to shoot. What I don’t like, and it’s no fault of the comp – I’m like to keep my firearms clean. I knew cleaning around the barrel would be difficult, so it does take more time to clean the gun. Not a deal breaker, just a pain.

The fit and finish of NY compensator for the fn509 was excellent. From order to shore didn’t take to long either. I will be doing further business with these guys in the future.

Made the gun much more fun to shoot. Zero malfunctions.
Make sure to get aluminum pads for your vice!

Have not run any rounds through it yet due to the pandemic but the install was easy enough. Read previous reviews on the compensator and PMM products before making the purchase and was very impressed. Looking forward to getting back to the range with my new comp!
